Showers and Faucets

At most homes on the islands, we rely on rainfall for water, which is collected from the roof and stored under the house. Villa Del Mar doesn't have access to government water. We have a treatment system that makes all our water safe to drink.

We ensure all guests are supplied with ample water to start their stay, however, arranging delivery to fill your cistern due to overuse may take a day or two. Please help us conserve.

  • Don’t allow the water to run while brushing teeth

  • Take short showers

  • Turn off faucets when not directly using in kitchen

  • Please report any running toilets or dripping faucets to us immediately.

If you have children, please explain to them that they are literally washing with rain and it is so important to conserve our most precious resource. We appreciate your help.

Electricity

While our solar system helps to keep our electricity costs lower, they do not eliminate all costs.

We do not have a battery system for the solar panels.

While you are away from the villa during the day or in the evening, please shut off the air-conditioners.

The cost of electricity in the US Virgin Islands is roughly 400% more than the cost on the mainland. Please conserve electricity by making sure all windows and doors are shut while running the air-conditioner. Please remind children of the importance of this.

Toilets and Showers

We have an eco-friendly, self-contained septic system. For this reason, the septic system is sensitive and cannot handle anything out of the ordinary.

  • Please do not flush any foreign objects or personal hygiene products down the toilets. These items will clog the system and interrupt your stay. Having a handyman or plumber attend to septic system clogs can take several days.

Laundry and Dishwasher

Villa Del Mar has a washer, dryer and dishwasher for your use.

  • When doing laundry or using the dishwasher, please conserve water by only running a complete load at a time.

  • The dishwater is the most efficient method of washing dishes.
